Description

• Wrote an image processing tool in Python for handwritten symbols and detecting shapes against a noisy background.

• Wrote algorithms and heuristics for edge detection, shape-finding and contrasting.

• Used pillow for reading and manipulating images, numpy for linear regression and cmu-graphics to make a simple UI.

Usage

• Yellow box: input
• White box: edge + shape detection
• Red box: greedily fits linear, quadratic and cubic curves to the points in each shape, starting a new curve when the addition of a new point breaks the fit.
  • this was part of a planned feature to convert handwritten images to a vector font.
